Employee Spotlight: Shana Fitzgerald, Information System Manager, Home Health & Hospice

Shana Fitzgerald first became a member of the SALMON community nearly thirty years ago, working as a high school volunteer for Bingo nights.

Shana joined the staff as a Transporter at Beaumont at Northbridge, the beginning of a ride that would take her down quite a career path at SALMON.

Although Shana occasionally left to work at other senior living communities, she always found her way back to SALMON Health and Retirement. Most recently Shana worked as the Information System Manager at SALMON Home Care where she focused on streamlining electronic health records between departments. Recently transition to a new roll as the Yardi System Administrator for CCM

Shana grew up in Northbridge, Massachusetts, close to the Beaumont campus. She remembers how even thirty years ago, the SALMON Health and Retirement community felt like home. “I grew up nearby, I went to Northbridge high school,” remembers Shana. “SALMON has always felt like home. My first work experience was at Beaumont at Northbridge, my first supervisors and managers were at SALMON.”

SALMON’s positive company culture and encouragement has made a lasting impact on Shana as a member of the SALMON family.

“I find the culture positive and motivating,” describes Shana. “It is about who is in each role and leading our teams that drives the culture and motivates us.”

“Many of us here have been able to work our way up and given the opportunity to try different things within the SALMON community, and able to do so with support,” explains Shana.

At SALMON Health and Retirement, employees have the opportunity to start in entry level positions and grow into being an integral part of the family business.

Shawn Neville, Chief Operating Officer of SALMON Health and Retirement, describes Shana, “It has been refreshing to get to know Shana in her new role.  She brings positive energy to the team and readily takes on the implementation of new projects.”

“Her clinical background lends itself to the support of our frontline staff.  She is always willing to step in and put processes in place that will make the quality of days better.”

Shana received her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) from Blackstone Valley Tech and her Registered Nurse certification from Quinsigamond Community College. When Shana isn’t working as a manager, she enjoys spending time outdoors and can be found spending quality time with her children and grandchildren.
