Executive DirectorI have worked for SALMON Health and Retirement for over 25 years. I love meeting people where they are to help support and guide them in their goals. SALMON Home Care has the unique ability to offer a variety of services for our seniors across our Continuum of Care. I am passionate about our staff and how they bring so much professionalism, compassion and dedication into our communities. It is a privilege to be a part of this organization and this amazing team.
SALMON Hospice Volunteer Program
Our Home Care team is always looking to add caring, compassionate individuals to our volunteer group. Volunteers typically spend 1–2 hours per week with a hospice patient, providing companionship and often times relieving a caregiver.
Some common tasks include:
- Conversation/reminiscing
- Doing a hobby or activity that interests the patient
- Taking the patient outside for some fresh air and to experience nature
- Sitting bedside, holding a patient’s hand and providing a comforting presence
- Reading to the patient from a book, magazine, newspaper or bible
- Running an errand for either the patient or caregiver
- Helping out in our office with filing, photocopying and mailings
- Being a greeter at our bereavement support group
Free training on how to be a hospice volunteer will be provided, along with ongoing continuing education and support.
